The origin of ferrets is still uncertain, controversial and mysterious up to this day. Some research is convincing but nobody really knows the truth about where ferrets come from.

It has been told that an animal similar to ferret were described on essays of Aristotle and a play by Aristophanes for over 2,500 years ago. In the late middle ages, there are few proofs to ferrets in some paintings and writing. In the 13th century, there are archives that ferreters where one of the staff of England’s Royal Court.

It would be easy to find evidences of their exact history if they have fossil. Unfortunately, ferret’s tiny bones decay thoroughly. The most famous theory is ferrets are broods of Western European polecats. However, scientists have many signs to study in order for them to accurately know the origin of ferrets.

The scientists can analyze general body features of ferrets then match it up with species similar to them. They can study their DNA or examine the distribution of fat inside their body to compare it with similar species. Scientists can also check the ferret’s teeth to have useful assumption about the diet of this pet, which can help determine their possible birth place.

Through the 19th century, the ferrets continuously grow more and more until they become humans companion. Now, they can be thought to run wires through small conduits in jets and to string cables through pipes in the North Sea. Since 1970s ferrets duty in humankind had been different and they were loved by many people.
