Common Mistake about FerretsCommon Mistake about Ferrets Ferrets are known to be friendly and a good companion at home, but some people see them differently as if they have all the knowledge in the world claiming that they know the true colors of ferrets. The ferrets don’t deserve these wrong judgments of other people. Unfortunately, there are lots of endless errors and myths about ferrets. Like human and all mammals, ferrets have a unique smell. Some people say ferrets have a foul odor but they actually don’t. The foul odor that people smell in pet shops and at the homes of ferret owners is because of the cramped conditions of the pet and lack of care for ferrets. Most of the time they simply have cages and bedding that are improperly maintained that results to bad odor. The truth is, ferrets bring out a spray, like skunk spray, if they are frightened. However, this rarely happens. The male ferret may become energetic while mating and bring out much more odor compare to other times. The best way to remove any foul or strong odor pet owners and pet shop owners should clean the bedding once a week and litter boxes everyday and of course, washing the ferret two times each year. Ferrets can be a delightful pet if properly cared. But always bear in mind that they are not a cat or a dog. Ferrets require a little more work than for dogs and absolutely far more than cats.
